A DOGGIE NAMED STRIPES

A DEDICATION TO STRIPES

He came into my life with a bound,
This great big hound.
A mixture of a dober and a dane,
And Stripes was given as a name.
He was just a pup but, looked all grown up.
With big brown eyes.long ears that would twitch
His big tail would move with a swish
His bark was loud but he did not bite
And it kept many people out of sight.

To another he belonged
Who kept him chained all day long.
When his shackles were let loose
His head was out of the ugly noose
with a leap over the gate,
He would come to my place at any rate.
With long leaps and bounds
He would drop me to the ground.
Licking my face, my eyes and my nose,
Showering all his love as any dog knows

This loveable hound was sent away
and I felt very sad that day.
I could sleep, eat or drink,
but if my stripes, I did think.
perhaps the stranger would look after him well
Or perhaps not , who can tell.
when I am tired, weary and lonely
I think about stripes only,
A moment of joy flashes through my mind
and I put all my cares behind
I know deep in my heart, as the poet say
To meet to know and then to part.
Is many a tale of many a heart.
